RIP Mollie

Run free, Mollie. I'm so sorry that this is the world we live in now, where a young woman like this can't go for a run and be safe.

  1. I hurt for her family...to lose a child would be impossible to bear, but to lose her in such a violent, frightening way is unimaginable grief. Our world can be so frightening, even in a small supposedly safe town.

    1. For some reason I felt really invested in this case and kept checking the news every day. I'm really sad.

  2. She was chased down. While on a run. It's sickening, and I'm so sad for her and her family.

    1. I'm hating that people are making this a political issue. Yes he was illegal but focusing on this diminishes the fact that there are so many cases of men preying on women, of whatever race.

    2. This statement was released by the young woman's aunt: The aunt of Mollie Tibbetts, an Iowa college student who was found dead on Tuesday five months after she disappeared during a jog, took to Facebook with a uniting message after authorities confirmed her alleged killer was an undocumented immigrant.

"Please remember, evil comes in EVERY color," Billie Jo Calderwood wrote in her moving post. "Our family has been blessed to be surrounded by love, friendship and support throughout this entire ordeal by friends from all different nations and races."

"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you," she added.

  3. So tragic. Even small towns in Iowa aren't safe anymore.

  5. I almost don't know what to write, I get so many emotions about this. She had a right, like all of us, to go for a run and to return safely. It's a disgusting world that she wasn't allowed that. And it's disgusting that her tragedy is spun into political arguments that are not even directed at putting an end to this kind of horror.
