The missing blogger: a solved mystery

Where have I been? Not writing blog posts, obviously! I wish I had something interesting to say, such as I snuck into Iceland, or was undercover investigating all the fire lookouts in America, but alas, it was nothing so exciting.

File it under the "lazy blogger" category. Time seems to be flying by. Although I've been working and hiking a lot, it still feels like summer is slipping through my fingers and will soon be gone. That is sad, because it's my favorite season, the one I wait for all year. I endure winter here because summers are so magical. I'm not ready! There are so many more trails to hike, lakes to kayak, and mountain goats to see!

We are flooded with tourists, despite covid-19. A huge parking lot in the national park was full at 5:30 am the other day. FIVE THIRTY.  Keep in mind that to even get to this parking lot from the closest town takes at least an hour. Who are you people?

Anyway, thanks to my readers (my mom, mostly) for still coming by here. Real posts to follow! Leave a comment about what you've been doing!

  1. Instead of "the missing blogger" title you should have gone with "the missing local license platers". I haven't seen any other local plates in days. Where have they all gone? Oh, it just occurred to me. They are too hard to see in the flood of slow driving out of staters! We are overrun!

  2. I've been busy working (from home thankfully) and hiking. I can't believe how busy the trails and campgrounds are here in Oregon. It's like everyone has just discovered the outdoors!

    1. They're not, and we have a large population of anti-maxer, conspiracy theory locals who STILL think it's a hoax.

  4. Always a faithful reader! Doing our best to stay well and sane. Lots of tourists here, too, who mostly don't seem to care about following the mandates our great governor has put in place to minimize the effects of COVID-19 as much as possible. Keep writing when you have time and motivation--love seeing Accidental Firefly pop up on my screen!

    1. We have both those unconcerned tourists and angry locals, many of whom seem to have developed a medical condition in which they "can't" wear a mask.

    2. I bet those are the same people who have "service" dogs that they insist on bringing into grocery stores. ::rolleyes::

    3. Yes, I've seen some little fluffy dogs that don't look like service dogs.

  5. I'm here, and if you are the lazy blogger then I am the lazy commenter. I read but then go play Animal Crossing. Yes, that's my biggest thing, Animal Crossing. It's nice to fall into a world without Covid-19. Plus it's hot and humid and why would anyone want to go outside? Although I walked a six mile virtual race this morning and again...WHY GO OUTSIDE?

  6. Summer is my favorite, too. The same people who are kvetching about our quite warm temps are the ones who will kvetch in the winter, too! It seems to be flying by...responsibilities have kept me from fishing, hiking or kayaking so far but I still appreciate summer in this region by the Superior Lake! Love your blogs...can hike and see mountains...virtually!

  7. We tried to go into Harpers Ferry yesterday. I figured it would be empty because all of the NPS museums and attractions were closed leaving a few stores and restaurants! We wanted to check out the trail outfitters store (it’s small but really well stocked, I’m sure sue to the through hikers on the Appalachian trail) It was wall to wall people! No parking at all...and closest spot well over a mile away. In the middle of a pandemic! We kept driving! Not worth it!!
